Hello

In the attempt to quick move an email profile folder to a new path I got an odd result.

THis is what I did, I copied the folder of an email accout the profile forlder and pasted it to a new path on a different drive.

Then in the account setting manager in Thunderbird, in the server settings section, I changed the local folder path to the new location where i pasted the copy of email said above.

I restarted Thunderbird and noticed that all mails in that account disappeared, only the inbox is shown and is empty.

I checked thus the content of the new pasted folder and noticed in fact that the INBOX file and Inbox.msf where altered by TB.

The INBOX file (without msf extension) is deleted, the INBOX.msf file is resetted and a new file INBOX-1.msf is created.

I tried to repeat the process, there is no way (known to me) to have TB accept and use this pasted folder.

However, I got stuck in this situation, I have the original email account local folder in the TB profile folder, it contains all the data i need to restore, but I have no idea at this point what I shouid do to get it back in TB.

How can I fix this problem? Thank you

If you have the original account folder, you can start over. I presume this is a POP account and that you have folder with account name and within it the folders for inbox, sent, etc. Put that under Mail Folder. Start thunderbird and set the location under account's 'server settings.' Close and restart thunderbird to ensure that it is working. Now, exit thunderbird, and COPY (not MOVE) the account folder to new location. Then start thunderbird and change the account's server setting to point to new location. close and restart thunderbird to ensure it's working ok. Now, you can use File Explorer to delete to account folder in Mail folder.
