I have the latest FF installed, and have tried to install a couple extensions. Bitwarden and bypass paywalls. They both install ok, show up as enabled on the manage extensions page. But they do not run. They also do not show up with a left click on the extensions icon. BW in particular needs to be accessed to sign in to the pw vault, however, it's icon does not show up on the toolbar (nor does it show up as an option on the customize toolbar menu.) I have deleted the extensions.json file (other files mentioned were not found), but it made no difference. Any ideas?

In the Firefox 109 release you may have to look at the new Extensions button drop down list.

None of the extensions show up on the extension button drop down list; that implies the extensions have not been fully installed - although they show up on manage extensions page and show as enabled.

Does it make a difference if you disable the Extension button via the about:config page as it is possible that Firefox thinks that the new button shouldn't be in this list ?

  • about:config => extensions.unifiedExtensions.enabled = false

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting to make changes effective and hide this button.

Hi, it made no difference. I have 5-6 extensions install and enabled. None of them show up on the extensions button and none of them have active icon buttons to invoke next to on the toolbar.

The Firefox add-ons might not work if your Firefox browser is not up to date. Moreover, incorrect date/time settings of your system or corrupt Firefox user profile (or any of its settings/files) may also cause the issue.

Latest FF installed, system time/date is correct. I have noticed one extension is working out of 6 - 'to google translate' I spoke to quick, translate did work and appear in the extension button, but is no longer there or working. I put extensions.unifiedExtensions.enabled back to true and restarted, no change.

As per a suggestion from another user, I set the extensions to run in private mode, and they all started working in regular mode as well! Clearly a bug. Please fix, as I normally do not run extensions in private mode.

I had a similar experience once. A problem started occurring and I tried troubleshoot mode. I didn't test all the extensions. When I restarted the problem had disappeared. The magic of the off-on switch.
