block sites on Mac

Hello! When I set up my website restrictions on Mac Ventura (System Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy > Content Restrictions > Access to Web Content > Customize), Safari blocks my sites but Firefox does not.

From what I see (eg, this article ), Firefox should block the same sites. Am I wrong?

I appreciate your help!

The article you mention suggests to me that you need an extension to block content in Firefox. Try the suggested search. Safari probably observes the MacOS restrictions because it is part of MacOS.

Hmm, how would Mac OS monitor the sites Firefox is visiting? To see whether it makes a difference, you could disable "DNS over HTTPS" so Firefox needs to ask Mac OS to look up website addresses. Maybe then Mac OS can control the sites Firefox visits?

More info on this setting: Firefox DNS-over-HTTPS

@Dropa Thank you. There is no error message. Firefox is acting as if there is no site being blocked. I input a url into the Mac blocked sites, and the site is not blocked.

@Terry The article I cited included the following:

To turn on parental controls on your computer, please see the support documentation for your operating system or see the following:

Set up Family Sharing on Mac and Set up content and privacy restrictions in Screen Time on Mac at apple.com.

I followed those articles, and nothing happened. Nothing was blocked.

@jscher2000 Thank you. I was thinking that at first, but it works fine on my iPhone. Is Firefox for Mac so different than Firefox of iOS? I guess I don't know the underlying system enough.

Yes, Firefox for iOS and traditional Firefox are very different.
