A few months ago

If I deleted an email or moved it to another folder - on my apple app for any of the accounts that I also have on thunderbird

The changes would sync seamlessly - a few seconds after I deleted or moved an email on my apple iPhone mail app - on my laptop - thunderbird would show the same changes.

The same worked the other way if I deleted or moved an email on thunderbird on my laptop - my iPhone would show the changes in seconds.

However now if I do the same on my iPhone The changes do not show up at all.

BUT if I do the changes on my laptop - they will show on my iPhone. It just doesn’t work if I do the changes on my iPhone.

Is there a reason for this?

It appears that somehow one of the devices changed from IMAP to POP. Should be easy to check each.

Hi david -- i have checked in thunderbird account settings --- server settings and the account is IMAP. Likewise on my apple phone if i go to the mail feature in settings ---click on the account --- under incoming settings it also says IMAP with the same server port.

Thunderbird setting for security is OAuth2.

is there anyway of fixing the bug.

I doubt there is a bug, as thousands use iphone and thunderbird for accounts and are not experiencing your issue. Somewhere there is a setting, possibly even in Gmail, causing this. It may be that the setting on deleting or moving to trash is causing the mismatch that you see.

thanks david --- what would you recommend to check and I can have a look into that.
