I can't speak to whatever your patch management is, but a normal update is supported (I just updated a friend's 115 yesterday in just a minute with no problems - although that is no guarantee on updates. I always recommend doing backups prior to major update.)

Yes, it works. It was your term 'patch management' that was unclear. If set to autoupdate, I believe it runs without notice.
