Problem identified on two sites. In both cases had logged into the site and searching for an item to purchase or complete the next stage of a process. The symptom was not to move forward but to`loop' and ask again for registration details or to react as if the requested in formation had not been completed.

In one case (Amazon) the online assistant was able to take over the tranasaction and complete for me. This was after clearing cookies and the like had had no effect.

An assistant for the second site said they had encounterd problems with latest firefox and used the word `looping' maybe trying to exit one of their servers / sites (?) and move to another.

This problem was encountered subsequently and in both cases processed properly using Internet Explorer after closing down Firefox.

Hopefully this support article is what you need:

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Enabling+and+disabling+cookies

more options
  • "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
You can rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Profile Folder in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
