I backed up my bookmarks to a .json file, but I cannot restore them. I had to reformat my hard drive, but I backed up me .json file before reformatting. Now when I try to use the file, Firefox says that it is unable to process the file.

Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .json for a JSON backup.

You may need to add quotes ("") around the name to rename the file to the correct file extension.
You can see the file type if you open the Properties of a file via the right-click context menu.

It definitely has the right file extension.

Like I said, the backup from my laptop worked just fine, but the original did not. I believe the file may be corrupted, but when viewed in Microsoft Word, both files look about the same to me.
