How do I stop Firefox from removing Internet Explorer settings (passwords, Google preferences etc) every time I use FF and go back to IE?

I have FF 3.6 and IE6 on the same XP machine. I have no choice re IE6. FF is only there to allow me to access non-IE6 compatible sites. Most sites I use are on an intranet and must use IE6.

Typically, if I have to use FF for something, after doing so my IE6 settings (mainly cookies) for things such as usernames, passwords, Google preferences etc are lost. This is reproducible behavior.

Firefox does not clear, delete, or change anything in IE.

Well, it's doing something - by design or otherwise. The only time the settings for websites I access via IE disappear is after using FireFox.
