I just downloaded Firefox 4.0, but it won't open with Max OS X 10.5.8. What's the problem?
When I try to open 4.0, the dialog box says it is not supported by this architecture. I has just loaded an update, 3.something, when I saw the promo for 4.0, so I downloaded it, which replaced the previous version, so now I have zero Firefox and am running Safari.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

I went to the link and downloaded tenfourfox, and it works great on my "old" PowerBook G4. The download instructions are totally clear. Goodbye Firefox 4! Thank you TonyE!
Yes, I have a second computer running Mac 10.4. The download does not warn that Firefox 4 will not run on older versions of OS X and I can find no access to older versions of Firefox via the Mozilla site. The link given by TonyE to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html states that 3.6 will be maintained "for a short time". I suppose it will make Apple happy that Mozilla are marketing 10.6 for them. The Firefox 4 download link needs to advise compatibility.
Thank you so much for this info. I also lost Firefox completely since my IMAC OSX 10.4.11 couldn't accept Firefox 4.0 and they never gave this information before downloading. Is there a way to get Firefox 3.8?
