I just got a "firefox security alert" asking me to press "start protection" button after telling me I have 96 out of 3782 infected objects. Is this legit?
under the heading "Firefox security alert" it says: Scanning of your system is currently on, please wait until the end. Your system affected by numerous virus attacks, Mozilla Firefox recommends you to install proper software to protect your computer. Then it lists Names, Type, and Threat Level. The first one is: Name: W32.Nimba.J@amm Type: Virus Threat Level: Medium and so on. I've never seen this before. The Firefox logo is not showing. The web address is: http:// update38. saspos. mo. cx Would appreciate any info=thanks.

That is not legitimate, Mozilla do not scan your computer. The site will be trying to get you to install some form of malware/virus/trojan.
The site will most likely be aimed at Windows users, and it may display what looks like a scan, but the display will look like a Windows system even though you are on a Mac. The scan is not real.
