I have an Archos 5 and would like to install Firefox and Thunderbird as default browser and mail, I do not have a mobile phone [don't want one] but would very much like to sync over two computers and the 5. I use Ubuntu 11.04 as the main O/S.

Sorry, mobile Firefox is available only for Nokia Maemo, and for Android 2.0 and later. If you have the version of the Archos 5 Internet Tablet that runs Android, then you might be able to upgrade it to an unofficial Android 2.2 system and try out Firefox. However, this is not officially supported: http://www.google.com/search?q=archos+5+android+2.2

Sorry, Thunderbird is not currently available for mobile devices.
