I downloaded Firefox 8.0.1 this morning. Since then I have not been able to access the internet with Firefox. All other programmes access the internet as normal. What do I do?

Downloaded Firefox 8.0.1, after being advised that it was available. Since then all attempts to connect to the internet with Firefox have been unsuccessful, with the "Unable to connect" advice box instantly appearing. All other programmes which connect to the internet (Mail, Safari) work normally.
