Website ads keep using proxy settings and I get the "Authentication required" message over and over again. I do I stop ads from using my proxy settings?
I have set my school proxy settings and use them very often. On certain websites, the ads keep using these proxy settings (probably to show me ads according to my preferences or I don't know), and I get the "Authentication required" message box over and over again until the page finishes loading. It's annoying because if I have many tabs open and am currently on another page while the website with the ads is loading, I get brought back to that page to authenticate. I can get asked 3 times to authenticate while this one page is loading, and it takes forever to load because of that. I do not want to disable my proxy settings because I use it very often. I have tried unchecking the "Accept cookies from websites" box and nothing happens, it still does the same. I want these ads to stop going through my proxy settings. How do I do that?

Hi,
You can try the Adblock Plus add-on. In addition to subscriptions, you can also manually add URL patterns or right-click an ad to add a filter.

dumbdidadida - thank you so much, I just installed the add-on and it blocks it :-) I also don't get to see all these annoying ads!!
I have installed the Adblock-Plus. But, how to block the "Authentication Required" message?
Hi sekchinyong,
The original problem was related to additional authentication prompts, not to the main authentication prompt. Is it the same? If not, you can try AutoAuth. If the problem persists you may have to work with your IT dept.
You can also start a new thread.
Thanks for your kind reply. However, I have just reset the firefox and reinstalled the add-on. Now, it has no more issue.
