Close the last tab without closing the firefox app
greetings!
1.I would like to close the last tab without closing the app. The behaviour I expect is the app to open a new blank tab when I close the last tab. Currently I cannot close the last tab which already has some website opened in it.
2. When I open a new tab, i'm forced to enter a website address. I expect to the app to simply open a blank new tab & leave it to me whether to enter a address or not.
Thanks for your support. I love firefox for Android.

This is being worked on, and will be changed in Firefox 18 or 19 to allow closing the last tab.

Thanks a lot. Kindly go through the second point also. While opening a new tab the app currently insists on entering the address. I would prefer to have a blank tab opened & me decide to enter address or not.
Many Thanks
Set the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab pref to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing that window and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.
Note that this may not work in poop-up windows.
Cor-el That pref does not apply to Firefox for Android.
Kishore for now you can load about:home directly then you can close the other tabs. I don't think Firefox for Android will be going away from the model of opening a new tab opens the Awesome screen. Not simple but it works.
I think Tyler is a touch optimistic on when the feature he is describing will land. It is more likely to come in 20 or 21 as those are the next two Nightly development cycles.
well, I would prefer to leave it to the end user whether he wants the awesome screen while pressing a new tab button/ or open a simple blank page. Let him choose it in the config.
regards,
kbrosnan, it's actually landed in nightly already, so unless there are problems should be in 19 :)
