Some pages display fonts more clearly in Win xp than in Win 7. Clear Type is disabled on both OS. I'd appreciate your help. Here are two examples. <nowiki>***</nowiki><br /> http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/how-to-manually-arrange-folders-in-windows-7/91d630f0-c18d-4eaa-889b-e0ecaffa5a94 In Win xp<br /> http://i48.tinypic.com/iypw75.jpg In Win 7<br /> http://i48.tinypic.com/c88ex.jpg <nowiki>***</nowiki><br /> https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-release-notes-whats-new-and-known-issues In Win xp<br /> http://i50.tinypic.com/2h693qv.png In Win 7<br /> http://i46.tinypic.com/2zi24i9.png

Hi Yaron, try in about:config to set gfx.content.azure.enabled to FALSE (by double-click on it)

if the above doesn't solve the issue make the gfx.direct2d.disabled to TRUE(by double-click on it).

thank you

Thank you.

I've changed both entries but it didn't make a difference. Any other idea?

Turn off hardware acceleration and check it again.

Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

This didn't solve it either. I wonder what might cause the difference between Win xp and Win 7.

Which fonts is Firefox using?

You can use this extension to see which fonts are used for text that is selected (right-click context menu: Show fonts in selection).

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).

You can try different default fonts and temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.

Thank you.

The font is 'Open Sans Regular'. It is not installed neither on Win xp nor on Win 7, and yet there is a difference between the tow OS.

The Open Sans fonts are automatically downloaded from the Mozilla server via @font-face CSS rules.

It sounds that this font isn't working good in your case. I personally prefer the Verdana font for readability. Open Sans doesn't seem to have a difference between the uppercase i(I) and the lowercase l(L) and it doesn't look for me as well as sharp as Verdana.

Thanks again.

Could you please explain to me how to download via @font-face CSS rules?

As to the Verdana font... Do you mean setting a permanent font?
