I am unable to add bookmarks because the BOOKMARK THIS PAGE" icon has disappeared under the "Bookmarks" category.

被選擇的解決方法

I reinstalled Firefox after uninstalling it, then COMPLETELY cleaning it out of my registry and all the files I could find. I still must not have got all of it, because when I reinstalled, it came back with all my bookmarks, history, etc.!!! But at least now I get "Bookmark This Page" again.

Mozilla Firefox is certainly an insidious beast, though. I now know I will never be able to get rid of it completely!

  • Click the bookmark star on the Navigation Toolbar once to bookmark the current site (this will highlight the star) to bookmark the current page in the Unsorted folder
  • Click the blue highlighted star to open the "Edit This Bookmark" pop-up dialog and move the bookmark to another folder

In current Firefox releases the "Bookmark This Page" menu entry in the Bookmarks menu changes to "Edit This Bookmark" once you have bookmarked the page and the star on the Navigation Toolbar is highlighted blue.

So do not get confused by the missing "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu and seeing "Edit This Bookmark" instead if you try to bookmarks a page that is already bookmarked.

You can make a extra copy of a bookmark by dragging the link to a folder in the bookmarks sidebar or by doing a copy and paste in the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

I clicked on the blue star and clicked on "Edit This Bookmark" but what I want Bookmarked does not show up on my list with all my other Bookmarks.

Did you move the bookmark from the default Unsorted folder to (e folder in the) Bookmarks menu folder or the Bookmarks Toolbar folder?

These solutions (the star, etc) do add the bookmark but I want the Add Bookmark option back under the Bookmarks menu. It disappeared!!! Adding a bookmark via the star does not allow you to choose where you want the bookmark to go, edit the properties, etc. as you add. Instead, all those things require extra steps.

So how do I get it back?

You need to click the star twice. Once to bookmark and another time to open the edit this bookmark dialog. This was previously also possible and doesn't require extra steps as you first needed to open the Bookmarks menu and then click the "Bookmark This Page" item. You can still use the Ctrl+D keyboard shortcut or use the Bookmarks menu. You can have the Menu Bar visible permanently via View > Toolbars.

  • Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar

If the star is highlighted blue to show that the page is bookmarked then "Bookmark This Page" changes to "Edit this bookmark", so do not get confused. This is the menu item and the tooltip of the star button.

I do not have a problem anymore since I posted a question back in May of 2014. The title "BOOKMARK THIS PAGE" has reappeared on my screen again.

If you uninstall Firefox then your personal data that is stored in the Firefox profile folder is not removed, so when you reinstall Firefox then you will still have the bookmarks and history and other personal data.

You will only find "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu if you have the Menu Bar visible and not in the drop-down list that opens in you click the button next to the star on the location/address bar because that is the action of the star button (bookmark or edit) and the icon next to it is the drop marker of this combined button and its purpose is to only show the bookmarks.
