I click on firefox icon , it loads and I expect the google home page to search, but instead the entire area is gray and and the favicon for google is dead center. What is the web address of that page? What are your settings on what page Firefox opens when it starts?

Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Then Tools > Options > General. Check the settings under Start Up.

According to the System Details list your home page is set to:

  1. browser.startup.homepage: http://www.google.com/images/icons/product/google_favicon-32.png

You can check the home page setting:

  • Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
