Firefox v30 seems unstable. It randomly seems to change what order stuff is displyed in the toolbar - bookmarks are now at the end instead of next to the reload button, but more seriously, all my Mint KDE icons have been replaced by ones that look much worse. Firefox is now V30, the latest, though when I initially installed Mint 17 last week I think it came up with Firefox v28. Why does Firefox lose its nice integration with Mint KDE when it updates? Can I go back to the version that is compatible with Mint 17 KDE and if so how? And how do I then stip Firefox updating itself and spoiloing things.

PS, this never happend in Mint 13, when Firefoox behaved wonderfully. Please leave good things alone or I will be tempted to change my browser.

Sorry I do not use Mint 17 KDE and so can not give the best answer, but no one else has answered.

I posted a recent answer to another thread which may partially answers your questions about Firefox

Normally you should run the latest version of Firefox and that will be Firefox 31. You may well do better by asking on the Mint forum about the disappearing KDE icons.

I'm not sure it Firefox will use KDE icons. On Linux Firefox is a GTK+ application and the icon pack as installed under GNOME is used AFAIK.

KDE control center > Appearance and Themes > "GTK Styles and Fonts"
