AutoUpdate doesn't work; I have to manually go to the Firefox webpage every time.
Whenever I go into Firefox/About to check the version, I will be shown what is apparently the latest version and the computer will check for updates, then tell me Firefox is up to date. However, it never is. I still have to go to the Firefox webpage and download the new version myself. I find this very frustrating and this has been happening across a couple of updates of OSX. I am currently running Mavericks and have just downloaded Firefox 31.

We see this often reported as happening on Mac that updating isn't working properly and that it keeps hanging with connecting or otherwise isn't updating. We advice to download and install the full version in such a case.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (31.0) in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

hi Llocky, the automatic updates are selected in "Options - Advanced - Updates" ?
Hi romsdu81 Yep, automatic updates are ticked. But what I find stranger is that if I go into Firefox/About and it does an on-the-spot search for an update, it will still tell me I'm up to date when I'm not.
Okay, have you tried to reset firefox or did a full uninstall and then a clean reinstall ?
Maybe a reset of firefox could be a good thing to see if the factory settings can fix this problem.
