Firefox has created thousands of bookmarks, sync is slow, FF is slow, FF freezes
I can't delete bookmarks by the traditional means since it freezes FF.
I need to mass delete these bookmarks AND I need to purge my new FF Sync account. How can I do that? The old sync allowed you to purch bookmarks in the cloud.
The large amount of bookmarks are all "Mozilla Firefox" folders. It's impossible to delete them all.
I use sync wth 3 computers (2 offices, 1 noteboook), 3 iOS and 1 Android device. It's a nightmare!

This has helped a lot with a lot more resources. The add on I ultimately used successfully was the SQLite Manager. I went in and did a mass delete of all the duplicate bookmarks. There were over 10000 of them that caused problems with the freezing and synch. I could not use the "Show your bookmarks" button on FF because of the large number.
All of the duplicated bookmarks were "Mozilla Support" folders. I think there is a larger problem with sync. I have 3 computers and 4 devices that sync and I suspect that when there are updates, whether it's FF, Windows OS updates, re-installs or anything, the Places file grows over time. This problem became most apparent when moving to the new sync. Due to geography I couldn't put all my devices on the new sync simultaneously. Maybe it's something about the old and new sync when devices are split? Very strange.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
