When did 33.1 come out? I check my version of firefox by going to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and then it either tells me "Congrats! You’re using the latest version of Firefox." or it tells me that my firefox is out of date.

Right now when I go there it says I am using the latest version, but when I launched firefox a toast told me that there was a new version [because I am not actually on the latest version]. Is this page no longer reliable in telling me if my FF is up to date, or did 33.1 come out so recently (ie: minutes, hours) that the page just isn't updated yet?

The reason I do this is because firefox's help about "Check For Updates" button is actually an "Install Updates Now If There Are Any, Without Asking If I Want To Proceed" button, which gives me no chance to learn about the update before installing it.

hello soundwave, firefox 33.1 was released today in celebration of the 10th birthday of firefox. for some more information about this you can check out: https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2014/11/10/celebrating-10-years-of-firefox-2/

the page at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ currently cannot differentiate between what version of firefox 33 you're using - the patch level of a version is information that is not exposed to websites, so it is not a reliable indicator (but this is an issue that is currently worked on)...

It is Not the 10th birthday of Firefox but rather ten years since Firefox got to version 1.0. It's 12th birthday has passed. The browser we know as Firefox came out September 2002 as Phoenix 0.1 then name changed to Firebird for 0.6 then name changed to Firefox as of 0.8. If not for Phoenix Bios and Firebird SQL the browser could have stayed at one of those names instead.

Mozilla in their wisdom wants to celebrate Firefox 1.0 as if it were any special over any previous release.

Ok, yeah, I hope it is being worked on as you say, because I would rather it say nothing than to tell me I am up to date if I'm not.
