Opening new tab brings up an address for trovi, not blank - how do I make it come up blank?
Clicking on + for a new tab brings up new window with an address for "www.trovi.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3330390&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=ME5D94D35-C1CF-4725-BACA-FCAEC896C9CE&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=6&UP=SP21818293-AADF-4EE4-9545-1512CA471401" highlighted. How do I make it come up blank?

Hi, Go on "settings" and change the start page.

Hi slipperguy, here is a similar recent thread with additional suggested cleaning steps: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1031383
Can you track down the "carrier" that brought Trovi into your computer?
Hi Guido1197, the new tab page doesn't follow the home page. Here's how you normally change it:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste newtab and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and enter your preferred page:
- Page thumbnails (default) => about:newtab
- Blank tab => about:blank
- Built-in Firefox home page => about:home
- Any other page => full URL to the page
The problem is that a bad add-on will override the built-in setting, so usually you need to remove that first.
Yes, but many times you can solve this broblem by changing the preferences.
Sorry, but I don't recall.

I downloaded "Malwarebytes" and ran it to clean a computer I was setting p. I got my PUP from trovi when I downloaded PC-Wizard so I could see the specs for a used laptop I was reinstalling software on and setting up for my wife.
BE VERY CAREFUL when uploading software from these software distribution sites. You even have to be careful with sites such as C-Net.
