I think the real Adobe Air update dialog looks completely different than the one in that Yahoo small discussion (small, black background).

I suggest investigating a possible bad add-on, starting here:

(1) Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.

(2) Open Firefox's Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Any improvement?

(3) You can search for remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

Also, could you check your download history for the site where you got your update? Unfortunately, bundlers advertise heavily on Google to get you over to their sites where they give you an installer that keeps pestering you with new crap. There is a page for reporting this:

Oops, wrong link. Here's the right one: https://www.mozilla.org/about/legal/fraud-report/

When I search some of the text in those pop-ups, I find a link to this page: http://malwaretips.com/blogs/vo-package-removal/

Do you have anything like that on your system?

Hi dog3456, I was out of town for a while. You might not always find malware under the expected name in Uninstall a Program. Either it is under a different name and can be uncovered by using the installation date sort (as previously suggested) or it didn't registered in that part of the registry and is simply sitting on the system somewhere. In the second case, the cleaning tools are your best bet. If the cleanup article didn't help, we have others listed in our support article. https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1034380#answer-660688

ok,

I found something in my programs called 'auto-Update.me' that I think might be the source of the problem. I uninstalled it. We will see if I keep getting these problems. It looks like it was first installed on 10/26/2014 somehow.
