31.5 isn't working for me now
I installed the newest upgrade last night, and now my email isn't working. I am now getting this when I open the application.
"Unable to connect
The connection was refused when attempting to contact live.mozillamessaging.com.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Thunderbird is permitted to access the Web."
When I try manually to check messages, everything hangs.
All other apps are working online, so I know it's not my connection. What's happened?

You have not mentioned whether you have followed the instructions in the error message: If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Thunderbird is permitted to access the Web
Example: I use Norton Anti-Virus/Firewall. Sometimes, after an update, Norton still thinks it can allow only the previous version, so you get the kind of error message you are seeing. I then have to close Thunderbird and access Norton. Settings > Network > Smart Firewall > Program Rules Locate Thunderbird and set to 'Allow' On one occassion, I have had to block, ok and then reset to Allow.
If you use another Firewall/Anti-virus program, then there will be similar settings. So check this first.

Oh, and wanted to add that I have restarted in safe mode, and seen the same error message and experienced the same problems accessing my email.

Thank you, that was it!
Thank you for the help. This worked for me too.
