Why are addresses that are in my Address Book showing up in red when I create a new e-mail?

It doesn't happen with all of them, and it doesn't happen each time I enter one person's address. Sometimes, the address is in black, sometimes in red. If I delete the prefilled address and start again, it keeps happening.

Autofill is buggy right now. This and other related issues should be fixed in upcoming versions of Thunderbird.

They have modified the search to work in a "contains" mode rather than the "begins with" mode it has used previously. I suspect this change has broken the matching mechanism that controls the red/black colouring.

Thank you for the quick reply! Any idea when the rollout of the new version will be? And is this related to the problems I'm experiencing with Firefox as well?

A possible workaround is suggested here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1012002

Why are you so angry about this? It doesn't interfere with sending, and the addresses came from your Address Book, right? So you know they are correct.

Zenos, just received anto-generated email with your comment, but just wanted you to know the last comment wasn't posted by me. I'm no longer having the issue. But I agree: Whoever posted that comment needs to chill...
