I have been trying to download tax info from the I.R.S site. When I try to open the downloads I get this error message: XML parsing error: not well formed Location: file///c:/Users/John/Downloads/available Transcripts.xhtml line number 1, Column 9

What are you using to open the file? What type of file is it.

Are you sure that this is an XML file and not some other file type like PDF that got saved with the wrong file extension?

You can try to rename the file and change the file extension to .pdf to see if that works.
