I'm trying to use vim keybindings for the code/style editor in Firefox Developer Edition. I can type "i" to get into insert mode, but how can I get back to normal mode? The escape key toggles the console pane but doesn't get me back to normal mode.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I'm not familiar with the way VIM works. Does Ctrl+C do what you want?

You can check the devtools.editor.* prefs on the about:config page to see if any were changed (i.e. appear bold).

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Thank you cor-el, but I think you misunderstood my question. I want to use vim keybindings instead of default, my question is how I can get back to vim's "normal mode". In vim, the editor, I press escape key to get back from insert mode to normal mode, but in firefox, the escape key just toggles the console pane.

Here is the description of vim's "normal mode" http://vimdoc.sourceforge.net/htmldoc/intro.html#Normal

Doesn't the Insert key toggles insert mode on/off?

It doesn't...

With vim keybindings, I press key "i" to get into "insert mode".
