In my userChrome.css I made my bookmarks bar hidden by default and shownig It only when I hover over navigation bar. But when I drag a link from a page in order to place it on bookmark bar, it won't show. Any ideas how can I make bookmarks bar show when dragging a link?

These are two lines I have in userChrome.css:

  1. PersonalToolbar { visibility: hidden; }
  2. navigator-toolbox:hover > #PersonalToolbar { visibility: visible; }

On the page you want to bookmark, do a right click in an empty area of the page. At the top of the menu, press the Star. Hot key; <Control>
(Mac: <Command>) D.

Or, Press the bookmarks Star on the toolbar. This will place a bookmark in the Unsorted Bookmarks Folder. To edit that bookmark, press the Star again.

A window will come up with the name of the page and its web address. You can edit these entries.

Next, select what bookmarks folder you want this bookmark in. If you do not see that folder, go to the far right of the Folder line, and press the down arrow.

Once done, you can move it to where you want it on the bar.

Or open the Bookmarks Sidebar using { Ctrl + B } and drag the URL there, and into the Bookmarks Toolbar folder.

I absolutely hate the functions provided via {Ctrl + D} since Firefox 3.0 in 2008, wasn't necessarily bad before that; and glad that I never changed from what I did in IE when I started using Firefox aka Phoenix 0.2 back in 2002. But it helps to have long fingers to make {Ctrl + B work} until the "muscle memory" kicks in where you don't need to think about it any longer.

Thanks both of you for respones, but none of them solves my problem. I've tried your suggestions, and for now I think I'm going to use the-edmeister's suggestion because it allows me to still drag'n'drop links.

You can also drag a tab on the star (or the show your bookmarks next to it) on the Navigation Toolbar to open the drop-down list.
