In Firefox 39.0, how do I remove the forward slask (/) that has been added to every bookmarked URL?

For reasons I do not understand, a forward slash (/) has been added to the end of every URL in my Bookmarks. When I attempt to use one of these bookmarks, I often get the response: "The requested URL "/", is invalid." Every attempt to delete a forward slash from the URL in the Bookmark is unsuccessful. How can I eliminate these unwanted forward slashes in the URLs in my Bookmarks?

When a bookmark is created, it's an as is process. Meaning if the web page is; https://support.mozilla.org that is what is saved.

On this page, do a bookmark by pressing the star icon. Now press the star again. Look at the whole bookmark window. Is the web address correct?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

You can edit current bookmarks by opening the Bookmarks Manager, by pressing the Alt or F10 key, bring up the tool bar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control>(Mac:<Command>) <Shift> B.

Locate, then click once on the bookmark, the information is displaied below. Edit the information using the lower display.

In case Safe Mode doesn't help then you can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
