There is no "key" icon, and there is no "options" catagory under my "tools" tab to turn it on. What can I do to have it remember passwords? OSX Yosemite on mac.
The "key" icon doesn't turn up all the time. I want it to remember a specific password, but can't seem to find it to turn it on. The icon only turns up intermittently. How can I get the bloody thing to work all the time, regardless?

Note that Firefox won't offer to store a password when you are in private browsing mode window.
If necessary then you can use this extension to store the name and password:
- Saved Password Editor: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/saved-password-editor/

Sorry, Tools > Options is for Windows. On Mac, you can use either:
- "3-bar" menu button > Preferences
- Firefox menu > Preferences
More info on this feature: Password manager - Remember, delete, change and import saved passwords in Firefox.
Now... are there certain pages that might evade the Password Manager by doing something complicated with the username and password fields? Yes. Some sites use various tricks to try to block auto-login. If there is a particular site that is causing you this problem, do you want to post a link to the login page?

Re: jscher2000's comment about odd sites.
It must be the case, because I installed the extension from Mozilla and it didn't work. The "key" icon works on just about every other site. My preferences are set to have remember passwords on. So it must be the site.
Thanks for your help, I think I'm good from here on out. :)
