Is there a separate /etc/yum.repos.d/<firefox.repo> ? the software updater (via Fedora) will not update to the latest firefox 40... I always have to do it manually download from mozilla and install in the /opt/firefox/* directory... does anyone know what the mozilla firefox repo details are? and does it even exist? OS: Ferora 21

If yum does not detect it, probably not. Some Linux Firefox packages are managed by other projects. It looks like this one is still in the process of getting the fedora build: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packag.../changelog/

Alternatively the two linux packages are found here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.o.../40.0.3/

And here for third party instructions: http://www.tecmint.com/install-firefox-in-linux/

Mozilla only offers Firefox and other application as tar.bz2 archives. Some Linux distributions offer special versions via their repositories, but such versions may be branded and come with modifications. You also usually need to wait longer for updates.
