Firefox only Finds US sites
Even when I include UK in my search request, FF brings back USA sites. I do NOT wish to purchase or explore anything in or from the US, and have definitely configured (as much as I have been able to find) FF to be "English" in every regard.
Can anyone please tell me what is wrong?
Thank you,
Ian

Try to install the Google UK search engine from the Mycroft Project website.
Hi cor-el,
I hate to appear as unnecessarily awkward or ungrateful, but I have tried, throughout the time I have used computers, to avoid using anything in which Google are directly, or even indirectly, involved.
Thank you for the suggestion though.
Ian
Hi cor-el,
Your response set me to thinking, and I have made a discovery.
When my Home page opens, which is set to Yahoo, all searches are UK dominant. It is only when I open a new Tab/Window (Blank) that searches go crazy and ignore the UK.
In Internet Explorer I used to be able to set not only my First page to that of Yahoo, but subsequent pages too could be so set. Can this be done in FF??
Ian
I assume that you have set the home page to the UK Yahoo website and are using the search bar on that web page.
What search bar do you use when you open a new tab?
Is that the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar or the search bar on the about:newtab page or another search bar?
You set the default search engine that Firefox uses in "Options/Preferences > Search"
If the built-in search engine uses US results then you will have to install an UK based version of the search engine.
Yes, Home page is set to Yahoo UK and operates quite well.
When a new tab is opened there are two search bars available, a long one to the left, and a shorter one to the right.
It matters not as to which one I use, the results are for the US, India, Australia --- everywhere, except the UK.
