I have a current account with a local service provider using a domain name. This will be closed within a few weeks.

I have now opened an account with another service provider for myself and plus a sub account for my wife. This has been sent to a number of people with the advice that it will be active following the closing of the domain address. Our concern is that some of the people we have advised may already be using the new addresses./

Is it possible for us to add the add the new account to our existing instance of Thunderbird without disturbing teh domain addressed accounts?

If so how do we do it?

Hello BrianM2,

it is no problem to add more than one account to Thunderbird, it won't disturb anything! You can add a new mail provider by selecting "File->New->Existing Mail account" from within Thunderbird. After filling in your credentials the new account will show up in the left sidebar and you can use both accounts simultaneously (until your former account is deactivated).

Only make sure you write new emails from your new account! (you can select from which address you send an email when you compose it)

I hope this answers your question?

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately this resulted only in Thunderbird looking for another service provider for me. I already have new accounts set up. All I want to do is to add these new accounts to Thunderbird without losing my existing accounts which use a domain name.

I think must be missing something!

I am unsure to what exactly you are referring when you say "service provider" or "domain name".

But since Thunderbird is looking for another service provider it sounds like you clicked on File | New | Get a New Mail Account instead of File | New | Mail Account

See Automatic Account Configuration for a guide on how to add an account, it should look like this!
