My previous computer was lost by an airline, my new computer will not sync any information from my firefox account. No passwords have been changed.

When I attempt to sync it appears to work but no data is transferred at whatsoever.

I managed to get hold of a new machine within two days of last using the old laptop, I am not optimistic about seeing the old one again. Is any data stored on the Mozilla cloud service because I have no other devices running firefox. I have used firefox sync successfully in the past to transfer data between old and new computer, but I usually have both of them at hand when I sync. I haven't changed any passwords so my encryption key should still be valid.

Is there any hope, or should I start resetting the hundred or so passwords on my old account?

"I haven't changed any passwords so my encryption key should still be valid. "

The "encryption key" hasn't been "user facing" since the Firefox 28 version. With Firefox 29-plus versions [released April 29, 2014] it has been a "hidden implementation" - not something the user see's or has to input to use Sync.

Quite honestly I would reset all the passwords to play it safe.
