I need to upload a file to the site, and then download the modified file from the site. I click Browse, select folder and file and click Open. The file is uloaded. After that, I click download the changed file from the site and click Save as. A window appears in which to select a directory, but this directory is different from the one from which I opened the original file.

The about:config entry for the last Download folder can be changed: browser.download.lastDir Though it might change with other download functions, like downloading files.

In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.

guigs, thank you for your response.

A little explanation. Now browser.download.lastDir parameter contains the folder which was opened last time for a file downloading. I want to make so that browser.download.lastDir parameter contains the folder which was opened last time for a file uploading. Can I do this?

Does it help to set browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite to false?

You can disable this feature to remember a host based download directory by creating a new Boolean pref on the about:config page with the name browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite pref and set its value to false.

You can delete the content-prefs.sqlite file in the Profile Folder to only remove settings stored in this file. That way you keep exceptions stored in permissions.sqlite that would get lost if you clear the "Site Preferences" via Clear Recent History.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
