How can I prompt the master password for every site I visit or within a set timeframe?

I dunno what the timeout on the prompt is but I feel like it is un-secure. I would like it to ask me every 5 minutes (if I need to enter a new password from the last time I entered the master) or to ask me for every website I try to log into.

I've looked into it and there is no obvious setting, but maybe there is something under the hood that I am not aware of.

Thanks!

Once you enter the Master Password it is good for that session. Close Firefox and re-open it, the Master Password will be to be entered again. No time setting or time-out prompt.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: 3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Note that if you cancel the dialog to enter the master password (e.g. to view passwords in the password manager) that this will log you off of the software security device and this makes Firefox ask again for the MP.
