In Thunderbird, if I do not view the incoming list, then I finally have time to do that, the entire column on new messages disappears and only leaves nothing.

I need to be able to be away from my computer for a period of time. When I finally get to look at the emails the whole list disappears and only leaves a couple of emails that arrived the same say. How do I get the computer to NOT automatically delete the messages?

Are you sure the messages are being deleted? Are they ending up in your Deleted / Trash folder? If they are just disappearing from view and not actually being deleted, that may be because you have somehow set Thunderbird to hide messages you have read. Go through the options under the View menu and make sure that 'all' is selected where appropriate. If there is actually a problem the answer may be in this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Issues_:_Disappearing_mail
