I've used Firefox for years. Tried Waterfox, didn't need it so I uninstalled it. The uninstall removed ALL my Firefox settings, passwords, etc, EVERYTHING !!!! Is there any solution to this ludicrous problem?

Thanks

I have used Waterfox before, and may even have it installed still on one of my machines. If you use some third party installer or aggressively deleted everything you may have lost settings and passwords etc.

There is a possibility Windows has retained a copy of the files or a copy in your Rubbish.

Have a search of your computer for any files places.sqlite there will be at least one of those in each Firefox profile. Make a note of the location of all of those files, and paste that into your reply. (If necessary edit to replace real names with <name> this is a public forum)

How did you get the information from your original Firefox to Waterfox in the first place ? can you remember.

I would have thought when Waterfox installs it would not replace Firefox. It may have made use of Firefox's profile.

What happened to the original Firefox is this what you are using now and have kept it up to date? Or is this Firefox 45 (32bit) a brand new install. Were both working and had data, up until you uninstalled Waterfox ?

When I installed Waterfox, it imported settings from Firefox on it's own.

Both were working when Waterfox was uninstalled. When I started my computer, Firefox 45 came up as the browser. Did Firefox 45 wipe my profile data?

Thanks

I can not remember what Waterfox does by default, but I would have used custom installs anyway. If Waterfox had the data when it was installed it probably simply took over using the existing Firefox profile. If Waterfox actually imported the data, that may imply it copied the data and made an additional profile.

Firefox does not delete profile data when it uninstalls and I would hope Waterfox does not. As I suggested before please search your computer for all files places.squlite places.sqlite Let's try to see how many profiles you still have on the computer.

I searched places.squlite but found no results.

I do now see a file named idr576xw.default.

But the date of creation is today.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Oops my mistake. I added a u in my second spelling. Please look for places.sqlite not places.squlite

You should find one in the new profile idr576xw.default I was rather hoping you may find others. That file is not passwords it is bookmarks and History but it will be present in every Firefox profile.

If you look one level of folders up from idr576xw.default the folder should be called Profiles do you see any other folders that look like profiles ?

Windows has a method of keeping previous versions of Files, but I am not certain it works for getting back old complete profiles. It is worth a try. (I would normally say backup the existing profile first, but if yours is new created today it probably has nothing of importance in it.) I guess there is nothing to lose by trying to see if you have previous versions of the folder Profiles.
