I have started to receive 200 spam messages per day. How do I stop this? Thanks

My email account receives over 200 messages per day that are clearly spam (Asian women, Russian women, military flashlights, Elon Musk-type email headers). How do I stop this? Thanks for any help.

You can't stop receiving them, so far as I know: email servers deliver messages to your account whatever they contain. What you can do is to have them diverted into a special folder, where from time to time you can review them (to check that there aren't any 'good' messages in there by mistake) and then delete them -- or (if you trust the spam filter to identify them accurately) arrange to delete them automatically. To have them filtered into a folder you may be able to use the 'spam' function provided by your email service. I have a Yahoo email account and find that its spam filter is usually quite good; other providers offer the same facility. Alternatively you can use the spam filter built into Thunderbird: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages This is more cumbersome because you have to train the filter to identify what is and what is not spam, as the article explains; however it gives you more control over the process.
