Certain email messages are being tagged as potentially scam. This email is received on a monthly basis and is not spam or scam. How do I create a white list to prevent T-bird from mislabeling these messages?

You know it is not a scam and seriously as far as Thunderbird is concerned tht banner is the only difference between what is and is not considered a scam.

Why doesn't Thunderbird include a white list? I'm tired of my email from Cornell University being labeled as SCAM.

Yes, I know I can turn off the scam alert, but that's not the correct solution. The correct solution would be for us to be able to tell Thunderbird that emails from that address aren't scam.

The definition of a scan is simple, basic and as you point out often wrong. However which of the spammy things is your university doing. Are the using tracking bugs? so they know if you open their mail and when, if you click any link or not. That is very very common, and rswally I do not think very ethical. But being aware of the value or otherwise of the scam filter, turn it off it you do not like it.

You could also make a financial contribution to Thunderbird so there is money to hire developers to work on things like this. I do not see any volunteers expressing an interest in fixing the scam filter and we are not in a position to direct them to work on what we feel they should be spending their time on. That is one of the perks of being a volunteer, you only do the things you want to.

Bug 320351 refers to the enhancement of the scam filter and will be updated should any progress be made.
