Unable to restore JSON bookmarks file to new computer

more options

I've seen similar questions asked, but I've not found the answer.

My previous laptop died, but I managed to take out the hard drive, which contained my Firefox profile.

I tried to restore the json bookmarks file in the bookmarkbackups folder on the old laptop into Firefox running on a new PC, but I repeatedly get:

"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.

Script: chrome://browser/content/places/treeView.js:157"

I even used older versions of the bookmark files to see if it would make a difference, but zilch.

I deleted all the places.sqlite files on the new pc and copied the old one directly, but no dice.

I should point out that the bookmark file is rather large (1.5MB), but this posed no problem on the old PC, and the new PC is faster.

Thanks in advance for your help.

After clicking "Continue script" several times, the bookmarks installed!

Perseverance was the answer, it seems!

That's actually what I was going to suggest.
