You can manually move the bookmarks to whatever order you want.

To open the Bookmarks Manager, press the Alt or F10 key bring up the tool bar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control>(Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.
Using the directory 'tree' on the left side, find the 'branch' you want. Right-click it and select Sort.
You must do this on each branch you want to sort.
i Just did that now but lost the order i made earlier without going into the manager
thanks
Firefox doesn't automatically re-order bookmarks. Do you have any extensions installed that may have added that feature to Firefox? Or might you be using the Sync feature?
i have none of that.
i followed what u said and clicked sort by name which automatically did it
did as u suggested
i followed what u said and clicked sort by name which automatically did just that

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.
Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Then follow the directions.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
thanks 4 that, ive run the program but no faults found. Looks like i'll just have to buckle under and arrange the order again and pray it stays unless someone can suggest why it changes
