Invalid file name in Russian when you attach a file from MS Word

more options

Hello.

Installed the latest version of Thunderbird 52.1 The problem has appeared for a long time - 1- 1,5 years ago. When you attach a file to a letter using MS Word function (Step 1.png), all Russian characters in attach file name are corrupted (Step 2.png). Other applications of the MS office (Excel, PowerPoint etc.) work correctly with this function.

The MS Office was installed again on the new desktop, but thunderbird profile was moved from old computer. I would not want to install clear Thunderbird and configure all the accounts. What could it be?

What is the file name in the folder and what happens if instead of doing that, meant to be used with Outlook you save the file and attach it manually from a new e-mail?

>What is the file name in the folder The filename contains Russian characters. For example, 'Баркетов PerfExpert-SDC.docx' (filename.png, filename from MSWord.png)

Then the issue is between Word and Thunderbird and I can't tell you who's fault it is. But think of the attach from Word feature as something purely Microsoft.

Is there are Temp file saved when Word send it as attachment?

If so, which filename does it has?

I found mozilla temp file only. There are no more files with this name on the disk

I can only think a workaround of saving the file and attaching it manually. If you need more help I think that someone with knowledge has to move this to Bugzilla.
