This is definitely a Firefox problem. I really to not want to refresh Firefox unless there is no other way to fix this.
Also when the post box disappears the screen grays out and there is an x in the place of the post box .
Anyone else?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
- press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).
"Clear the cache":
- Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.
- Firefox/Options/Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
cor-el I tried everything you suggested and it still goes away, even in safe mode. I am really not wanting to refresh because I use logmein and have a client base of about 200 users. If I refresh Auto login will not work and I will have to type usernames and passwords on all those users. When their cookies are gone the Auto login is gone and you have to start over.
Did this work before in Firefox?
If that is the case then when did it stop working?
What security software do you have?
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.
If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
"Forget site" worked for about 10 minutes. As for security I use Bitdefender, but it was turned off as were all add-in. I have nothing else running that is not running with the other browsers that work just fine. But I prefer Firefox. So what now.
I gave up and just did the refresh and did not sync. Same thing in 10 minutes same problem. I had to go ahead and sync because I have to work. This is after the sync.

The weirdness continues, Since I have firefox on my other laptop and it works correctly with Facebook I was looking at the differences in installed software. I noticed the problem child had Malwarebytes on it, an older version the free one. Since is was not running, (free version not trial) I though nothing of it. Today I thought I would remove it and see. It is now working correctly for the time being anyway. If it continues through the evening I would say it was Malwarebytes. Although how could something not running at all interfere with Firefox
After about 1/2 hour it is back to disappearing again, I deleted Firefox all folders and reference in the registry. Reinstalled and it does the same thing. I am at a loss. All add ons disabled Antivirus disabled. Still disappears.
