I am running on the updated version(53.0.3) of Firefox. My VAIO laptop has 2 gb RAM, i3 processor with ample free space. I don't have any other software installed except the Firefox browser and MS Office. None of the Add Ons /Plug ins are installed, still my task manager shows almost 700-800 MB of RAM utilized only by Firefox. I have tried all the possible solutions as mentioned in the 'Help' section. Kindly help me to minimize the RAM usage

One of the headline changes in Firefox 48-49 is e10s, which separates the browser interface process from the page content process. The performance impact of this can vary a lot between systems.

Try to disable multi-process tabs in Firefox. You can disable multi-process tabs in Firefox by setting the related prefs to false on the about:config page.

browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

You can check the about:memory page to see what takes up most of this RAM usage.

Also make sure that you have set the Windows pagefile large enough to ensure that Windows doesn't crash because of low memory issues.
