Here is an idea, when the Mozilla developer team decides to "disable" and add on / extension how about leaving the "remove" button so the user can remove it!

The "Adobe Acrobat Create PDF 2.0" has been disabled due to lack of signing. I do not have a problem with this as Mozilla has every right to protect their software. At the very least the user should be able to remove the item in question but because when it is disabled the buttons are apparently removed so there is no way to remove it. I tried everything I could find on this including the manually removing instructions and although there is an ID for the item in the Troubleshooting Information tab under "Extensions" there is no "xpi" file or folder. I personally would prefer that if something actually requires disabling either leave me "the end user" the opportunity to remove the trashed item or simply delete it instead of disabling it! Either way it would save me the hours of searching how to get rid of it without any success. Personally I do not think it is residing on my hardware but the image remains present on the extensions page.

You can find the install location of an extension in the extensions.json file in the profile folder. You can open the extensions.json file in the Scratchpad and search for this extension. The descriptor field should list its install location.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Thank you for the response but it appears to me that you either did not read the post completely or you do not understand what was posted as I did not list every detail because some of it was implied to save time. As in I did not say I actually went to the profile folder. But I did say I tried the manually removing instructions where they say basically what you posted about going to the profile folder.

I have been to the profile folder, there is no .xpi file or extensions, json in the profile folder as far as I can tell. I am using Win7 btw. I also noticed that this same extension is happily residing on my desktop and has no issues there. I am not familiar with the term "Scratchpad" is it a text editor like Notepad?

OK there is an extensions, json text file and the add-on is listed in there. I t was in a sub folder of the profiles folder named *.default so that could have been an oversight on my part due to the fact that I try to follow directions to the letter and I do not recall that folder being mentioned only the Profiles and extensions folders. Anyway I manipulated the extensions, json file and was able to get the unsigned tag removed and the enable and disable buttons now toggle from one to the other but there is still no remove button like all the other add-ons. Must be another setting in the extensions, json file.
