Turned on Thunderbird and entire address book was gone. What happened, and how to recover it?
Laptop was shut down all is fine. 8 hrs later turned on lap top to do email, but entire address book was gone. What happened? How to "import" address book from another email account?

What does "the address book was gone" mean? The address book button is there but when you click it the book is empty? The toolbar with the address book button is missing?
Exactly. I began doing an email by entering addresses and no address popped into place. eg typing "david" would insert the email address for him. So I clicked on address book and NONE of my saved addresses were there.
This is an old post but still has some good Troubleshooting info. I would start with restarting Thunderbird with Add Ons disabled. You do this from the Help menu.
