Firefox 57 private browsing is logging visited addresses and history. They are not being wiped when the browser is closed and the list of visited websites appears when you open a new private browser window. Not great when you're trying to present shop for someone else in the household. Even persists after shutdown. Tried manually clearing all history, It keeps coming back. Also updated to 57.0.1 and problem remains. This kind of defeats the purpose of private browsing no? Anyone know how to fix this? Win7 64 bit + ff57.0.1 64 bit

I highly doubt that is a private browser window that is opened. I used private from 56 to 57 and they don't keep that info. What colors is your Browser when you go private?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page can't repair the places.sqlite database then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
