After using a VPN connection my Bing homepage is still set to Netherlands.

more options

With Firefox 57.0.2 (64 bit) Open. I connect to VyprVPN. In VyprVPN I connect to a Netherlands host server. I open a new tab and open Bing.com The correct Netherlands Bing page loads. After some file transfer I disconnect from VyprVPN. I am now connected to my regular DNS through New York. I reload the Bing page but it is still set to the localization for Netherlands. I close the tab and open a new one and go to Bing.com. It is still set to Nethlerands. I close Firefox and reopen - same results. I reboot and open Firefox - same results. The exact same link works correct on Chrome, Edge, Vivaldi.

Could this be due to a cookie that Bing set when you connected over VPN that it isn't updating?

You could try removing your Bing cookies to see whether that causes your location to be redetected. While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

I deleted all cookies for Bing.com and that has resolved the problem. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for reporting back.

It's possible you'll need to do it again when switching between normal and VPN or VPN and normal, but now you know how so it should be easier the next time.
