I have an existing email account with an existing smtp server which only works when I am logged onto my home isp. When traveling I need to send emails but cannot do so because I am not logged onto my home isp. I have a different smtp server which works everywhere but I cannot install it as an alternate smtp server. How can I add an smtp server to an existing email account? or replace my home smtp server with a new one?

Open Tools/Account Settings, select the account in the left pane, then look at Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the lower right pane. Click the drop-down to select the appropriate server. If you want to add an smtp server to the list of available servers, select Outgoing Server (SMTP) at the bottom of the left pane of Account Settings.

If you were to set your ISP account to send through a different server that works when you're travelling, e.g. a gmail or outlook.com server, but wanted the recipient to see your home address as the sender, you would have to add the home address to e.g. gmail under Settings/Accounts and Import on the gmail website.

When I do this I get an error message that this account already exists, please use a different email account. How can I get past this error message?
